Melissa Simon's Story
For the past 15 years I've made it my personal mission to help raise money and awareness for heart disease, the number one killer of women in the United States. I've learned first hand the effects of this disease having been diagnosed at a young age with dilated cardiomyopathy. Fortunately, with medical science and research funded by the American Heart Association, I've led a fairly normal life considering my condition. As a heart patient, I've seen drastic changes in treatment protocol, pacemaker technology, and medications. When my heart failed beyond repair in 2007, I was blessed to receive a life saving heart transplant. My donor, a 14 year old girl named Chloe is the reason why I continue to live a heart healthy life. Diet, exercise and taking care of my new heart are of utmost importance to me. I will be telling more of my story at the Go Red Luncheon on 2/25. Please donate to this event today and help me support the American Heart Association. Go Red!
